Huge-o Giglio

Whoever this Giglio guy is he must have been awesome to have a party like this going on.

Also had some great food here, homemade itialian sausages, made by the Viglotti's a family I teach piano for! and Bracciole, a really interesting grilled pork with pepper crazy hunk of meat sandwich. It was wonderful. I hereby declare that I am Italian.

Getting giggy with Giglio

So we went to this amazing festival this weekend in our beloved Williamsburg. The Dance of the Giglio (not the official name, but what I call it) takes place every year all over the world. I could go on, but really the coolest and most astounding thing is when dozens of Italian men lift this 4 ton 3 story high structure in the air with a 16 piece orchestra on it and freaking dance and parade around with it! (carefully and slowly mind you). All with some wonderful older italian men MCing and singing songs and giving the men holding it their orders. It is a site to see. We didn't have our camera so here's some photos I borrowed from others on flickr.

A photographer roaming around McCarren Park the other day took some shots of our little Doug. Too beautiful a shot to not share. More to come, and more thoughts on many other things too. Look out world, I am a blogger now!
